About Your Dentist
Sangita Chandran, DDS
I’ve always believed good relationships start with one’s smile. Being in the profession of dentistry for more than 20 years, I’ve realized that helping patients achieve their best smile is more precious than anything else. As a general dentist, I get to see young and old patients with a variety of dental needs. Over the years, I’ve gotten to know my patients very closely and have enjoyed the good fortune of celebrating their successes with them. Sometimes, we feel like we all are one big happy family. As a helping professional, I love that feeling.
The idea to become a dentist dawned on me when I was still a student at King Edward’s Camp Hill High School in England. An alumni career fair kindled my interest in dentistry, as it blends both aesthetics and science. Though I wanted to follow my father’s footsteps as a doctor, I realized my interests were better suited to becoming a dentist.
I was fortunate to get admitted to one of the most prestigious institutions in the field of dental education, Kings College Dental School in London. After graduation, I was one among very few fresh graduates who were selected to attend a one year residency in one of the most dynamic atmospheres available in the field. I was able to sharpen my skills in oral surgery, emergency care, orthodontics and pedodontics during that period. After completing my residency, I worked in London for five years in two different practices. The interesting thing was one was a boutique practice serving high end clients and the other one focused on economically challenged social groups.
I used to spend holidays in the US visiting my relatives. I was fascinated by further learning opportunities in the dental field in the US and decided to move here. Staying current with the latest advances in dentistry is a passion and pleasure for me, as I’m able to provide the best care for my patients. I have studied under some of the leading dental experts over the years, including Larry Rosenthal of New York University’s Aesthetic Institute, Dick Barnes of Salt Lake City, Bob Gerety (American Orthodontic Society) and Dr. Garg of American Dental Implant Association (Miami).
Having founded Feathertouch Dentistry in the year 2000, it has enabled me to provide the best possible services for young and old alike under one roof, such as cosmetics, tooth colored restorations, root canals, wisdom teeth removal, orthodontics, invisalign, teeth whitening, implants, dentures, etc. Our true value is accommodating the dental needs on entire families in a friendly manner.
My hobbies are music, swimming and hiking. Currently I volunteer as a board member of the National Institute on Developmental Delays, an organization providing medical services to children globally.
